What is cryptocurrency
When it all kicked off, Welch went of the grid and what she did during that time was pretty simple: “I would see my friends. I would go out and eat. That’s really about it https://allot-mvc.com/. I don’t ever get out and do much when I’m home. I like being by myself.”
However, Welch's attorney confirmed she wouldn't be facing any charges as a result of the investigation, as he said: "The SEC closed the investigation without making any findings against, or seeking any monetary sanctions from, Haliey.
This has led some, including YouTube cryptocurrency investigator Coffeezilla, to accuse Ms Welch of scamming investors with a "pump and dump" – where the people behind a coin hype up its price before launch, then sell it for profit.
"In the context of cryptocurrencies, the legal framework is still evolving. If Welch's team possessed non-public information about the token's launch or had pre-arranged strategies to sell significant portions of the supply, leading to the token's price collapse, such actions could be scrutinized under fraud or market manipulation statutes."
Cryptocurrency
Cryptocurrencies represent a new, decentralized paradigm for money. In this system, centralized intermediaries, such as banks and monetary institutions, are not necessary to enforce trust and police transactions between two parties. Thus, a system with cryptocurrencies eliminates the possibility of a single point of failure—such as a large financial institution setting off a cascade of global crises, such as the one triggered in 2008 by the failure of large investment banks in the U.S.
Bitcoin relies on public key cryptography, in which users have a public key that is available for everyone to see and a private key known only to their computers. In a Bitcoin transaction users receiving Bitcoins send their public keys to users transferring the Bitcoins. Users transferring the coins sign with their private keys, and the transaction is then transmitted over the Bitcoin network. So that no Bitcoin can be spent more than once at the same time, the time and amount of each transaction is recorded in a ledger file that exists at each node of the network. The identities of the users remain relatively anonymous, but everyone can see that certain Bitcoins were transferred.
At the time of writing, we estimate that there are more than 2 million pairs being traded, made up of coins, tokens and projects in the global coin market. As mentioned above, we have a due diligence process that we apply to new coins before they are listed. This process controls how many of the cryptocurrencies from the global market are represented on our site.
New Bitcoins are created by users running the Bitcoin client on their computers. The client “mines” Bitcoins by running a program that solves a difficult mathematical problem in a file called a “block” received by all users on the Bitcoin network. The difficulty of the problem is adjusted so that, no matter how many people are mining Bitcoins, the problem is solved, on average, six times an hour. When a user solves the problem in a block, that user receives a certain number of Bitcoins. The elaborate procedure for mining Bitcoins ensures that their supply is restricted and grows at a steadily decreasing rate. About every four years the number of Bitcoins in a block, which began at 50, is halved, and the number of maximum allowable Bitcoins is slightly less than 21 million. As of 2025 there were almost 20 million Bitcoins, and it is estimated that the maximum number will be reached in 2140.
On 30 April 2021, the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey banned the use of cryptocurrencies and cryptoassets for making purchases on the grounds that the use of cryptocurrencies for such payments poses significant transaction risks.

The Bitcoin market cap is currently 2,077.47 billion. We arrive at this figure by multiplying the price of 1 BTC and the circulating supply of Bitcoin. The Bitcoin price is currently $ 104,584 and its circulating supply is 19.86 million. If we multiply these two numbers, we arrive at a market cap of 2,077.47 billion.
If you buy and sell coins, paying attention to cryptocurrency tax rules is important. Cryptocurrency is treated as a capital asset, like stocks, rather than cash, which means that you need to pay your marginal tax rates on any capital gains or income earned from crypto when you register your return with the ATO.
